Collection: Hallet Davis Pianos

Hallet, Davis & Co. is a distinguished piano manufacturer with a storied history dating back to 1835. Founded by George Hallet and George Davis in Boston, Massachusetts, the company quickly rose to prominence in the American piano industry during the 19th century. They gained a reputation for innovation and quality craftsmanship, introducing groundbreaking techniques in piano manufacturing.

Throughout its history, Hallet, Davis & Co. produced a variety of pianos, including square, upright, and grand styles. The company adapted to market changes, discontinuing square pianos in 1890 and embracing the player piano trend with their finest model, the Virtuolo, produced from 1905 to 1925.

In 1911, the company gained international acclaim when Pope Pius X selected a Hallet, Davis & Co. piano for the Vatican, awarding the company a gold medal for the instrument's beautiful qualities.

The company experienced several changes in ownership throughout the 20th century. In the late 20th century, Hallet, Davis & Co. faced challenges due to high labor costs in the United States and moved production overseas. Today, the brand is managed by North American Music Inc., with pianos manufactured in China to maintain affordability while preserving quality.

Hallet, Davis & Co. pianos are known for their superior sound quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal, making them a favored choice among musicians and collectors. The company continues to produce a range of pianos, incorporating modern technologies and materials to meet the demands of contemporary musicians while maintaining its rich tradition and heritage.
