Collection: Emerson Pianos
Emerson Pianos were manufactured by the Emerson Piano Company, which was founded by William P. Emerson in Boston in 1849. The company quickly became one of the most prominent names in American piano manufacturing, known for producing high-quality, expensive pianos with elaborate cabinetry and superior sound.
Emerson Pianos were noted for their use of exotic woods and intricate design, which made them stand out in the market. The company produced a wide range of pianos, including upright, grand, and player pianos. They also manufactured pianos under special contracts for large retailers such as Thomas Goggan & Brothers and Junius Hart.
Over time, Emerson Piano Company became part of several mergers, including with the United Piano Corporation, the American Piano Company, and the Aeolian Piano Company. The company continued to produce pianos until World War II, when it went out of business due to the economic pressures of the time.
Despite their cessation of production, Emerson Pianos remain valued for their craftsmanship and durability. Many restored Emerson pianos can still be found and are appreciated by piano enthusiasts for their rich tone and beautiful construction.
