Collection: Diapason Pianos
Diapason pianos are well-regarded instruments that were produced by Kawai, a prominent Japanese piano manufacturer. Diapason pianos were created with a European style soundboard, providing a warm sound and good dynamic range. This design makes them particularly popular among serious piano students, schools, churches, and other institutions.
The brand was founded by Hataiwa Oh-hashi, who initially worked for Yamaha and was instrumental in creating Yamaha's first grand piano. He later left Yamaha to pursue his vision of manufacturing high-quality pianos with a more traditional, hands-on approach, leading to the founding of Diapason in 1947. Diapason pianos are known for their exceptional touch and sound quality, setting them apart from many other Japanese pianos of the era.
Although Diapason pianos are no longer produced, they remain valued for their durable construction and quality craftsmanship. Their resale value can be affected by the lack of brand recognition, but they are still considered excellent instruments for those who appreciate their unique qualities.
