Every once in a while, a project comes along that’s truly unique, like this Hailun 178 Grand Player Piano with a Custom Nickel Plate!
A Completely Unique Hailun Player Piano
This client fell in love with the Hailun 178’s tone, touch, and price point, but they wanted something that fit the sleek, modern aesthetic of their home. So, we took on the challenge of creating a completely nickel-plated Hailun piano, something that doesn't exist from the factory.
From the nickel-plated plate and hardware to the custom nickel bass strings, this is a completely unique build. Traditionally, bass strings are copper-wound, but while at a convention, I discovered a supplier in Germany that makes nickel-plated iron bass strings—the perfect finishing touch to keep the aesthetic consistent.
Every metal component— the plate, pedals, hinges, and casters—is nickel, making this an absolute showstopper. And of course, the Hailun 178 Grand still delivers that incredible sound and playability that makes it one of the best pianos in its class.
Even more incredible, the client asked us to install a QRS self-playing system, transforming this piano into a Player Piano. Now, this piano also delivers a live performance experience at the touch of a button. Whether playing it traditionally or letting the QRS system take over with a library of professionally recorded pieces, this piano is the perfect combination of custom design, superior craftsmanship, and cutting-edge technology!
