1911 Lyon & Healy Player Piano Restoration: A Family Heirloom From Ohio Brought Back to Life

1911 Lyon & Healy Player Piano Restoration: A Family Heirloom From Ohio Brought Back to Life

Brigham Larson Pianos

This 1911 Lyon & Healy Player Piano has been in the same family for generations, and now back home in Ohio, it's ready to be the centerpiece of their home recording studio.

This 113-year-old heirloom came to us in rough condition—no surprise given its age—but now it’s fully restored, both cosmetically and mechanically.

A well-restored piano paired with a QRS self-playing system becomes a centerpiece of both music and technology—perfect for homes, venues, and anyone who wants live piano performance at the touch of a button. We frequently install these systems as part of our comprehensive restoration services, ensuring that classic pianos get a new life with modern convenience.

The original Lyon & Healy decal was done in brass, rather than the usual vinyl replica, and the veneer pops with the fresh lacquer finish. We also gave special attention to the back of the piano, installing steel plates refinished with gold automotive paint to be used as magnets for microphone placement!

The Lyon & Healy Legacy

Lyon & Healy is best known today for their world-class harps, but in the early 1900s, they also produced high-quality pianos. These instruments were built with exceptional craftsmanship, and this 1911 model is no exception. Our goal in restoring this piano was not just to bring it back to playing condition, but to ensure it will last for generations to come.
