Composer of the Month at Piano Lessons: Bach

June has just begun, and that means we have a new composer of the month at piano lessons! June's composer of the month is Johann Sebastian Bach. We are very excited to learn more about Bach, and to listen to his music! Our piano teachers played several YouTube playlists yesterday in the theory lab as an introduction. Here are some facts from our bulletin on Bach:
Born March 31, 1685 in Eisenach, Germany, Johann Sebastian Bach lived during the Baroque Period of music. He was born to a family where his father was the town musician. Bach came from a 300-year reign of other family composers who all worked as professional musicians. He was brought up by his brother because both of his parents had died by the time he was ten. Bach worked mainly in the church setting, and his compositions were never really popular during his lifetime. However, composer Felix Mendelssohn reviewed Bach's music 100 years later, and now J.S. Bach is known as one of the world's greatest composers.
