Will moving my piano throw it out of tune?

A common myth that we hear a lot of at Brigham Larson Pianos is that moving a piano will throw it out of tune. The fact is piano strings change very little between moves. Moving a piano to another place in your home, another city, or even out of state will not effect the tuning very much. The main reason piano go out of tune is due to the climate much more than from being moved. Remember that pianos are tough instruments. They are designed to withstand up to 20 tons of tension from the strings alone and are built to last several decades. We have some beautiful used pianos here at our store in Pleasant Grove that are over 100 years old and still going strong with the help of our expert piano technicians! If you had just bought a new piano, and it has received a good tuning at the store, it will still sound great after being moved to your home.

This is what Brigham has to say!

So do not worry about rolling your piano down the hallway or even trucking it over to the next town! Your piano should be fine.
