Technical Training from the Piano Shop
Technical Training Recap Have you ever wanted to know what goes into building a pin block within a piano? Jacob, one of our technicians give an insight on part of this process: For our early morning tech training meeting we worked on the old Steinway in the back shop. We are currently working on making a new pin block. We started by putting chalk on the metal plate it pushes up against and wherever there was a high point, indicated by the chalk, we sanded it down. Once we had almost the whole pin block flush with the plate, we flipped the plate over and clapped the block to the plate (pictured). We worked on marking and drilling new holes into the new pin block.
