51 Ways to Tell Your Child "Good Job!" During Piano Practice

Piano practice is hard work... so kids need a lot of encouragement! Whether you're sitting with your child for the whole duration of their practicing, or just listening from afar, you can help them enjoy the process and want to continue. Lots of the time, though, parents (and teachers!) can get stuck in the same old phrases they always use. "Good job" means less if you say it too much! So, if you're looking for inspiration, here are 51 ways to encourage your child that aren't "good job:"

You're on the right track!
You're amazing!
You've worked so hard on that.
That turned out very well.
That's the best you've ever done!
You stayed so calm while you were solving that problem.
I knew you could do it.
That's quite an improvement.
I love hearing you play the piano.
That's my favorite part - will you play it again?
Keep working, you're almost there!
That's a great idea.
I bet you're very proud of yourself.
Terrific!
Sensational!
Fabulous!
I like how you think.
You're such a creative thinker.
Good remembering.
Nothing can stop you now!
Phenomenal job!
You're such a trooper.
I love the way you figured that out.
Bravo!
Breathtaking!
Listening to you makes me happy.
Thanks for practicing so hard.
You're listening so well.
You're spectacular!
Nice work.
Way to go!
Bingo!
That was so exciting.
I can tell you're thinking hard.
Well done.
That was so good, it gave me goosebumps!
Dynamite!
What's your favorite part?
How did you do that?
That was so hard, and you didn't give up!
Exceptional performance.
You make it look so easy.
Good thinking.
You're becoming an expert at that.
Thumbs up!
A big smile
High five!
A hug
A pat on the back
I'm so proud of you.
You're my favorite piano player!

Next time piano practice is getting a little frustrating, try one (or lots!) of these. Your child will flourish knowing you're behind them all the way!
