I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! Lindsey and I recently decided to start a scholarship fund for young pianists in need who will be applying to music schools in the coming year. We are happy to announce the 2015 Annual Scholarship Recipient – AJ Long, from upstate New York! I have had the pleasure of teaching AJ for a little over a year, and I’ve rarely come across a student who is so dedicated, driven, thoughtful, and passionate about creating beautiful music. His normal practice routine is 6 hours per day, and in addition to playing, he is an avid composer, currently working on his own set of 24 preludes. He plans to apply to Eastman, Curtis, Peabody, Michigan, CIM, and Florida State. AJ is in need of our help during this very costly process (as I’m sure all musicians who have gone through the audition process are familiar with!) , as he and his family are doing everything they can financially to make his dream of pursuing a piano performance degree a reality. If you would like to read his biography, listen to his performances, and make a donation to his college fund, just click here:www.joshwrightpiano.com/ scholarships
