Come see BOB BAILEY perform here THIS FRIDAY!
Bob started working professionally at age 18 while studying music composition at the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake. He played tuba in the Army Band at Hill Field during World War II. After he was discharged, Bob moved to LA where he continued his music studies. He worked night clubs and hotels and eventually connected with the studios in Hollywood where he was a rehearsal pianist for film and television.
With his remarkable skills, he eventually become a first call pianist in Hollywood from the 40’s through the 60’s, working closely with Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ginger Rogers, Bing Crosby, Pearl Bailey, Mel Torme and many others. And you can hear all about it on Friday, January 17th here at Brigham’s Piano Hall!
Bob retired and moved back to Salt Lake in 1980 and was active in the music business until he moved back to Utah County and taught Jazz Vocal at BYU for three years. He and his wife Margaret have been married for 70 years and served four missions for the LDS Church.
When Bob performs here, he’ll tell more anecdotes – some with a tune attached. Don’t miss it!
