Just out of the shop! 2000 Baldwin 45″ Upright Piano

Just out of the shop! 2000 Baldwin 45″ Upright Piano

This piano has so many things going for it, and we are excited to share it with you! First, it is made by Baldwin, and Baldwins are historically high quality pianos. Second, it was made in the year 2000, and in piano years that is hardly any time at all. Third, it has been completely refurbished by us! Any wear and tear it may have developed in the past 17 years has been erased by our team of technicians. This refurbishing process is more than a quick one day affair, rather, it is a very involved and detail oriented process. It entails a full cleaning, reshaping the hammers, tightening, lubricating, aligning the hammers, rebuilding the trapwork, adjusting the wheels, voicing the hammers, buffing the keys, polishing the pedals, a full regulation, a pitch raise, tuning, and more. The exterior has been refinished as well.

Adding a Muffler Rail to any Piano

Adding a Muffler Rail to any Piano

In this video, Brigham demonstrates a retrofit kit for a piano muffler. Piano Mufflers were common in Asian pianos during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and they were usually installed at the factory. The piano in this video did not originally have a muffler included, but has since had one retrofitted in our piano shop. Rather than using a traditional pedal to activate the muffler, it uses a small hidden plunger to lower the muffler rail inside the piano. A muffler is perfect solution for families with sleeping children, playing late at night, or appeasing the neighbors in your condo unit. We can install a muffler rail on any piano in our store, or even on your piano at home. Call us today to set up a muffler for your piano, 801-701-0113.

Keep Tradition Alive, Rebuild your Heirloom Piano

Keep Tradition Alive, Rebuild your Heirloom Piano

Brigham Larson Pianos specializes in rebuilding heirloom pianos. We are often asked to restore a piano for two main reasons: One, because it has been passed down through a family for generations, or two, a person desires the unique esthetic of an older piano that is hard to find in the modern era.

There are three main paths we take when rebuilding a piano: rebuild, refurbish, and a la carte. A rebuild is essentially a wholesale replacement of all major components. It also comes with a thorough cleaning so it looks brand new. The next path is a refurbish. For a refurbish, some parts are replaced or rebuilt, but not all parts as with a rebuild. However it still includes a thorough cleaning and is an excellent option that will restore a piano to great working condition. The third path is a la carte, for which not all pianos may qualify. This path is budget driven, where the piano owner with Brigham can pick and choose the components of the piano to be worked on.

If you would like to see this restoration work in action, stop by our piano shop anytime. We love to give tours! If you are interested in this type of work for your own piano, call us today at 801-701-0113. Brigham oversees all rebuilds personally and will make sure your piano gets the best care possible.
